1．certain 的用法
certain adj．一定的；必然的；確信的；有把握的。例如：
①I am certain to be successful. 我一定會(huì)成功。
②We are certain of winning the game.
比賽中我們有把握能夠獲勝。
③I'm certain that he will come to the party in time.
我確信他會(huì)及時(shí)來參加晚會(huì)的。
④I am not certain whether she will come or not.
我沒有把握她是否來。
【注意】certain 還可以用作定語，表示“某一；某種；一定的”的意思。
例如：
⑤A certain comrade is waiting for you at the school gate.
有一位同志在校門口等你。
⑥Bad things can be changed into good ones on certain conditions.
在一定的條件下，壞事可以變?yōu)楹檬隆?/p>
2．control 的用法
control [k+n'tr+ull] vt．＆ n．控制，調(diào)節(jié)。例如：
①The drunk man could hardly control his car.
那個(gè)醉漢幾乎抑制不住自己的車。
②At last the car was out of control and knocked at the wall.
最后小汽車失控撞到墻上。
③Can you control yourself when you get very angry with your children?

④The firefighters couldn't control the fire before the house was burnt down.

3．majority
1)majority 作名詞，意為“多數(shù)，大半”解。
①The company hold a majority of the stock.
該公司擁有半數(shù)以上的股份。
②The majority will go to him. 多數(shù)人會(huì)投他的票。
③He was elected by a majority of 120 against 70.
他以120票對(duì)70票的多數(shù)當(dāng)選。
2)當(dāng)用作主語時(shí)，要注意主謂一致的問題。一般由of后的名詞決定
①The majority of doctors believe smoking is harmful to health.
大多數(shù)醫(yī)生認(rèn)為吸煙有害健康。
②The majority of the people love peace.
大多數(shù)人愛好和平。
③The majority of the damage is easy to repair.
這次損害大部分容易補(bǔ)救。
【注】當(dāng)把多數(shù)看作一個(gè)整體與少數(shù)人相對(duì)比時(shí)，用單數(shù)動(dòng)詞。

3)majority 還可表示“成年，法定年齡”。
